Sonder Ambassador Pilot

CONNECT. EXPLORE. ACCESS SUPPORT.

Starting university in a new country comes with a lot to navigate. That’s why understanding the support available is an important part of settling into life in Australia.

The Sonder Ambassador Pilot is a new initiative from Allianz, designed to help international students better understand the support available to them through Sonder and their Allianz Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).

We’re piloting the initiative with The University of Queensland (UQ) in Semester 1, 2027, bringing Sonder closer to students through peer-to-peer conversations on campus.

Primary Allianz OSHC policyholders have access to the Sonder app at no extra cost, providing 24/7, confidential support for safety, medical and mental health needs. Learn more about Sonder.

The Sonder Ambassador Pilot is owned and managed by Allianz in collaboration with Sonder and is independent of The University of Queensland (UQ). UQ is not responsible for the program, selection or management of ambassadors.

Through the pilot, selected UQ international students will help raise awareness of Sonder within the UQ student community, share approved information and resources, and help eligible Allianz OSHC policyholders understand how to access Sonder.

Allianz is responsible for the overall management of the pilot, including program coordination and ambassador incentives. Sonder works with Allianz on program delivery, including ambassador selection, training and support, approved content, privacy and data management, and evaluation of the pilot.

The pilot will help us understand how peer-to-peer engagement can support greater awareness and understanding of Sonder. Feedback and learnings from students and ambassadors will help us evaluate and shape our approach for the future.

Sonder Ambassadors are international students who have volunteered to help raise awareness of the Sonder app and encourage eligible students to register and activate their account.

The ambassador role is voluntary and does not constitute employment with Allianz, Sonder or UQ. Ambassadors may receive gift card incentives when eligible students activate Sonder using their personalised QR code, with incentives linked to the number of successful activations they support.

An ambassador’s role is limited to promoting awareness of Sonder and encouraging registration. They are not Sonder support staff, health professionals or insurance representatives and cannot provide advice about health, wellbeing, insurance or individual circumstances.

If there is an issue with an ambassador’s personalised QR code or link, they will direct you to download, register and activate Sonder through the standard process available here. Your ability to access Sonder will not be affected.

The ambassador will report the issue directly to Allianz for investigation. You won’t be required to provide any personal information to the ambassador or take any additional steps to resolve the issue.

If you need assistance outside of registering for Sonder, please contact Allianz directly.

Customers and ambassadors may raise any enquiry or complaint about the collection, use, storage, disclosure or handling of their personal information in connection with the Sonder Ambassador Pilot with Allianz as the primary program contact.

All feedback, complaints and enquiries should be directed to  healthresearch@allianz-assistance.com.au

Allianz will coordinate the management of the enquiry or complaint. Where the matter relates to personal information collected, held or processed by Sonder, Allianz will work with Sonder to investigate and respond appropriately. You may also contact Sonder directly about personal information held by Sonder. The Sonder Privacy Policy sets out how Sonder collects, stores, uses and discloses personal information and how to make a privacy complaint.
